Always happy to help…..

One or two of our customers have asked for our advice to keep their heather stocks in good condition through the Summer when sales slow down.

The key points are to space out the plants so that they are not touching each other – this allows good air circulation and keeps well rounded attractive foliage.

Heathers will be very dry before they wilt and then difficult to recover.  The best way to assess their watering needs is to pick up the pots and feel the weight.

If you have any Spring flowering plants left, they will look better with the dead heads removed, encouraging fresh young growth.

Watering early in the day allows the foliage to stay dry as much as possible – this will reduce potential disease problems.
